DON’T FORGET MONDAY: K-WAY VOB MONDAY EVENING CITY BOWL TRAIL RUN – MONDAY 14 AUGUST 2017
GREAT NEW CHANGE TO THE FREE VOUCHER POLICY: As most will know, these runs happen every two weeks. Those who attend, have their names entered in a lucky draw for K-Way vouchers every second month. This policy has now changed. Going forward, one R300 K-Way voucher will be handed out at EACH run from now on. The name of each person attending the run goes into the hat on the same evening and a name will be drawn for the voucher on that evening. So obviously you have to be at the run to win a voucher. This innovation is brought to you by Freda Walters. J
Thank you to Karen Jennings and Gavin Hauck for volunteering to assist Freda in leading / sweeping these runs from time to time.
All runners welcome.
Headlamps / Torches compulsory.
Meet at Kloof Nek car park at 17h45. To start at 18h00.
Distance about 9 - 10km. 60 – 75 minutes.

TABLE MOUNTAIN TRAILERS (K-WAY VOB MEDIUM DISTANCE GROUP)
Constantia Green Belts
This week we run the Constantia green belts – it is a run ideal for those new to trail running. Nothing too technical, and a bit of road running in between.
Saturday 12 August 2017 - Constantia Greenbelts
Brief Description of Route
We will run the greenbelts, including the Alphen trail, Klaasenbosch Trail and the Diep River Trail. An extra loop will be added in Ceclia forest to give some extra distance.
Rendezvous and Start Time
RV at 07h30 in the Constantia Sports complex parking area. Enter the sports complex (at the Brommersvlei/Constantia Rd intersection), and park on the left hand side as you enter. The parking area, as well as our route will be familiar with all K-way VOB members.
Terrain and Distance
There will be a few ups and downs, some jeep tracks and some single tracks, but generally not much technical stuff – so ideal for newcomers. Distance in the order of 14 kms, taking around 2hrs.
Our other groups will follow a slightly shorter route at a more modest pace!
We will do the route in a clockwise direction, hopefully avoiding the Constantia Park run
What you need to bring
Water, whistle, and waterproof/warm top
Have a great week.

Further any minor child participating in any trail running activity will be deemed to be doing so with the consent of his or her guardian.
By starting out on a trail run you explicitly acknowledge that: 1] you understand the associated risks involved and accept full responsibility for your own safety. 2] you are medically and physically fit to participate and 3] are carrying the necessary water, clothing and safety equipment required for the particular run.

From the parking lot we hop over Vlakkenberg and into Silvermine (not quite sure exactly how) then we tag the Mast or at least kinda sort of and then hammer down the road catapulting back over Vlakkenberg to the parking lot.
Oh and then we go up the steps to the Bailiffs Hut and back down again to the parking lot.
Time and distance:
3-4 hours, about 25km sort of kinda something like that
• Take your own water and snacks.
• All runners are welcome.
• You need to be completely self-sufficient. Carry everything you will need on the day. This includes a basic medical kit, space blanket, whistle, windproof (waterproof if it is raining) jacket, warm headgear if it's cold or sun protection if it's hot. Charged cell phone with Mike’s number (0823197250) stored as well as the City’s emergency ops number (021 480 7700) and the SANParks Visitor Safety number (0861 106 417) programmed in. Just in case you need rescuing.
• You are also responsible for your own water and nutrition. There is little to no water on the mountain and, for the roadies, there are no water stations. You MUST carry your own.
